The Stillwater Tribal Senior Center is a program funded by the HHS Title VI Program and the Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe and is intended to provide nutrition and caregiver services to the elders living on the Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe’s Reservation and Colony, as well as other Native Americans in the surrounding community. It is the program’s intent to improve the quality of life for our tribal elders. Elders hold an honored position within the Tribe’s cultural and society and are the living threads to our past. Their health and welfare are of utmost importance to the program.
The mission of the Senior Center is to enable elders to live in the least restrictive appropriate environment possible and encourages participation in community and wellness related activities. Our services are available to persons, ages 50 years and older, living on the Tribes’ Reservation and Colony (or Native Americans in the Churchill County). Depending on the needs and circumstances, family members are encouraged to continue their role as primary care providers for their elders.
The objectives are to provide a well-balanced meal that meets one third of the R.D.A. (recommended dietary allowance) to tribal seniors (ages 50 and older and their spouse/significant other) in both congregate settings or through a home delivery system, when necessary, to provide information and referral to tribal elders and their caregivers and to follow all objectives and statements submitted in the Title VI application. Our Senior Center offers the following services:
- Congregate Meal Service
- Homebound Meal Service (based on Title VI eligibility requirements)
- Transportation Assistance
- Cultural and Recreational Outings
- Common Area (couch and Big TV/Satellite)
- Computer Lab (4 computers, printer, and wi-fi)
