About the FTHC

The FTHC provides high-quality, primary healthcare for the Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe, Lovelock Paiute Tribe, and the Yomba Shoshone Tribe and other American Indians and Alaska Natives in central Nevada. The FTHC is owned and governed by the Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe under an Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (ISDEAA) contract, also known as the PL 93-638, with the U.S. Indian Health Service (IHS). The Fallon Business Council, the governing body of the Tribe, currently serves as the Health Board for the FTHC.

The FTHC has provided its community members with health-related programs since mid-1980’s. The FTHC promotes health and well-being through a number of services including:

  • Medical, Dental, and Optical Services
  • Behavioral Health Counseling
  • Substance Abuse Prevention
  • Health Promotions
  • Community Health Education and Training
  • Community Wellness
  • And much more!

The FTHC was first established in the mid-1980’s when the IHS closed down the Schurz Hospital and being contracting with the Tribes to provide health care services in the communities under the ISDEAA Program. The FTHC was first housed in a small building with two offices (with one half of the building being the Tribe’s Smoke Shop). Shortly after the FTHC moved into a three-section modular building which served the three Tribes and other Indians for about 10-15 years. In 1997, the Fallon Tribal Health Center moved into its current facility which was built by the Fallon Tribe to accommodate the need for a modern facility with adequate space for services.
